Part time training: an opportunity to integrate your knowledge
Byron Yoga Centre’s 5 month Teacher Training Course in Byron Bay is a Level One 200 hour Teacher Training course accredited with Yoga Alliance and Fitness Australia approved for 15 CEC’s. It is designed to deliver our Purna Yoga holistic approach to training that encompasses not just learning about the asanas (postures) but also the many other aspects of yoga: pranayama (breathing practices), meditation, and yogic philosophy.
Conducted over 5 residential long weekends, over a five month period, this part time training allows you to take the time to integrate the knowledge you are learning in the face-to-face sessions into your daily life, in between the weekend residential training sessions. It’s an ideal flexible option for those with busy lives, and other family and/or work commitments.
The five residential weekends held at our training centre in beautiful Byron Bay comprise Part A of this course. Part B is completed by correspondence, in your own time.
Part A: Practical and Lectures

Part B: Correspondence
Part B is conducted by correspondence and includes maintaining a journal of self practice. The preparation / study for the Part Time Level 1 Teacher Training Course begins 4 weeks before course commencement date, then continues by correspondence after the intensive at a personal pace, for as long as the trainee needs.

The Course is held at one of our peaceful training venues in Byron Bay – within walking/bike-ride’s distance from Byron Bay’s town-centre and beaches.

The lead teachers have over 20 years of knowledge and expertise each.
Under the guidance of veteran yoga teacher, John Ogilvie, the teaching staff on this course are experienced and dedicated. You’ll be inspired by our resident and guest yoga teachers alike, who ‘walk their talk’, living the yoga lifestyle, and are all knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects.

Course Content
Part A (residential weekends) consists of an intensive program covering a broad range of fascinating subjects all aimed at deepening your understanding of not just the postures, but also pranayama (breathing practices), meditation, and yoga philosophy and lifestyle.
A big focus for us is teaching you to teach and making sure that both your practice and your teaching is safe and aware. All teacher trainees get the opportunity to develop their teaching skills in a real-life context in student classes for the public at our Yoga Centre located in the heart of Byron Bay.
Over a relatively short time, you’ll emerge with the practical skills and confidence to launch your yoga teaching career.
