I started to realise that dedicating every waking hour trying to push, strive and progress in the corporate world was really masking what was lying under the surface. Feelings of unworthiness, failure, undervalued and hopelessness.
I likened the role to a tight pair of jeans; looked really good, but oh so uncomfortable! I was morphing into a person I didn’t know, and functioning from a place that was so mechanical; and yet on I trudged, just to try and make it through each day.
Looking to de stress, I tried a yoga class. From that first experience, I felt empowered. Just in making that decision to ‘start’, and having no expectations on myself was liberating.
Over time the dark cloud started to shift, and I began to reclaim myself when I let go of the self created ideals I was trying to live up to. I was finding my own truth; vulnerabilities; passions; motivators. I opened up, to what is here within all of us. The source of our true essence.
This transformation is what led me to teach yoga. I love to see the empowerment students experience when they find strength in making a choice in hope of change. Their perseverance and the awareness they start to develop can help to bring about transformation; and out of transformation, there comes hope.
I am so fortunate to now be doing something I love. Something that fits...well...fit’s me like a comfy pair of yoga pants!
