Postnatal, Pregnancy
‘I started attending Jyai’s pregnancy yoga class from 28 weeks pregnant. Jyai brings a wealth of experience as a midwife which she uses to lift the class from one where you simply avoid poses you shouldn’t do when you’re pregnant, to one which actively helps you develop and strengthen the muscle groups that will help with labour, delivery and recovery. She also teaches the class about different positions for labour and non-drug techniques for helping with and avoiding pain. The relaxed atmosphere is really nice and I found the ‘check-in’ sessions at the beginning of the class, where women shared their experiences and discoveries of pregnancy, extremely useful and interesting. Jyai’s classes also give you the flexibility of coming whenever it’s convenient, unlike some pregnancy yoga courses which require several weeks’ commitment. Jyai is a warm and empathetic person, and I’m looking forward to attending post-natal classes with her. I wish I’d started coming sooner in my pregnancy!’
