I have been teaching yoga since 2004 when I graduated from my diploma in yoga teaching. But my interest in yoga began years before that. I practiced for many years alone from a book before I eventually found the time and money to attend regular classes. And as soon as I attended regular classes I knew that I wanted to teach.

When I studied the sister science of Ayurveda with Dr Ajit, my understanding of yoga and of people deepened. Ayurveda teaches that every aspect of life from our food to our work life and even the weather, influences health and wellbeing.

As well as my regular classes I have always taught yoga to groups who have mental health challenges. Observing the effect of yoga on these students, I was inspired to look more deeply in to this area. For years I have read everything I could and attended workshops specifically in the areas of yogic psychology, yoga for trauma, and yoga for mental health.

I enjoy teaching yoga to more mature students, they bring with them experience and wisdom. I love to see them enjoy finding their own strength, flexibility and balance.

I knew from my own experience that my yoga practice and yogic lifestyle influenced my health, my mental health and in fact my whole life. So studying Yoga Therapy was a natural step for me.

I currently volunteer with Yoga Australia, representing Qld on the National Management Committee.

I have had the privilege of learning from many inspired teachers over my lifetime who have taught me about yoga and about life. They are too many to mention. Finally, I do want to acknowledge my first teacher, my Mum.
