I was raised in western Canada, and came to Australia in 1989. I began a regular practice of yoga & meditation in the late 90s during a period of upheaval and change in my life, and found the stabilising nature of these practices inspiring and intriguing. Hence, I studied to become a Hatha yoga teacher in the early 2000s. Since then I’ve been teaching my carefully crafted yoga classes in Adelaide, my local area of McLaren Vale, and around Australia in corporate settings for the past 16 years.
I have also pursued further qualifications to become a yoga therapist, which has enabled me to work closely with clients in one-on-one and small class settings to use the various methodologies of yoga to address specific conditions of body and mind.
More recently, I became a registered teacher (through MTIA) of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, having trained to run this deeply nourishing and life-changing experience in my local area. I have long felt that the parallel paths of yoga and mindfulness are gateways to a greater sense of self-awareness, peace and happiness. I teach regular Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation courses in McLaren Vale.
I have also participated in a steering committee to set up a Mentoring Program with Yoga Australia, and am now a registered Mentor, available to assist other yoga teachers who are developing their teaching, have questions, or need other yoga-related support.
Mentoring services are available at around $100-$120/hour, negotiable. Areas of specialty for mentoring include: introducing mindfulness into a wholistic practice, finding your authentic teaching voice, restorative yoga and its applications, communicating effectively with your student base. I love to work with yoga teachers who are learning and keen to keep developing their teaching from their embodied experience.
