Yoga Australia is the peak body for yoga in Australia and is a not-for-profit membership association. Our mission is to develop and promote best practice for Yoga; support and represent yoga professionals in Australia, from all traditions and styles; and educate and inform the general community and professional groups about yoga.
Our membership comprises qualified yoga professionals and those in training, yoga teacher trainers, retired yoga professionals and people and companies invested in the yoga industry.
Yoga Australia brings together yoga professionals from all traditions, styles and backgrounds to provide mutual support and professional recognition of yoga in Australia. Yoga Australia proudly upholds high training and professional development standards, with international recognition of our registered members and training courses. Yoga students and the community are assured that a Yoga Australia registered professional meets recognised standards.
Our members have access to professional support networks; quality continuing professional development; professional publications and resources; registration for the purposes of health insurance rebates; a comprehensive website with individual profile pages for each registered member, search functionality and promotion of member’s services; and assistance with the promotion of yoga to the general public.
Our governance framework and processes are designed to ensure Yoga Australia achieves its stated mission effectively, ethically, in line with relevant regulations and standards and meet community expectations.
Yoga Australia is led by a volunteer Board comprising a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Ordinary Board Members and administrative staff based in Melbourne Victoria – consisting of a CEO, Marketing and Communications Manager, Membership Manager, Digital Marketing Coordinator, Administration and Volunteer Assistant and Volunteer Manager. A further group of volunteers supports the functioning of the Association – the National Management Committee and State Coordinators are appointed in each jurisdiction.
A volunteer Council of Advisors also provides independent, authoritative opinions on critical matters related to the operations of Yoga Australia and the yoga profession.
