25 years ago Liz started taking yoga classes, to ease chronic back pain and to improve her general fitness. She worked in the wellness industry as a spa and remedial massage therapist, and later as a college educator. During the course of her career, she developed a passion for teaching anatomy and physiology and increasingly, the body-mind connection and the energetics and philosophy of yoga. Liz studied the Diploma of Yoga Studies & Teacher Training with Michael de Manincor at the Yoga Institute and further qualified as a children’s yoga teacher with Lorraine Rushton at Zenergy Yoga. She also trained in Restorative Yoga with Lizzie Lasater and completed her Meditation Teacher Certificate and Graduate Certificate of Yoga Therapy with Nikola Ellis at Adore Yoga.
Liz’s teaching style follows the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya, and offers gentle, mindful and breath-centred practices, in a non-competitive and friendly environment. Liz encourages each student to develop an individual practice to suit their needs. In her classes, she combines movement and postures with breathing techniques and relaxation, with the aim to help to calm the mind, build strength, increase flexibility and improve overall wellbeing.
